When teaching unit conversions, I love sharing this handy little trick with my students. To get started, arrange your units of length in order from largest to smallest. Once you've done that, remember that when you're going to smaller units, you multiply, and when you're moving to bigger units, you divide. It becomes a breeze to recall that you always begin with 1,000 and simply drop a zero each time. Visualising this process each time can greatly aid in retaining your conversions in a more meaningful manner, making it much more engaging than the typical memorisation approach!
