These sessions are for home educated students where a scheme of work will be followed. It is recommended that you have 3 sessions a week. Each session will have a follow up work where they will have a set of questions based on what was covered in the session. The sessions including the follow up work provide 4-5 hours of learning. This option is best for students that are struggling to engage in independent learning, need more guidance on topics, prefer teacher-led sessions or struggle to pick up topics. The sessions are highly personalised to the students needs and will include iterative work to fill gaps. Topic tests will also be included to check students' knowledge as we go. This option is very popular for year 10s and Year 11s as they near GCSE to better prepare them.
These sessions are for students who are in school and would like extra support. These sessions can be tailored to the students needs. Some ways in which these session are conducted include: Flipped learning (look at a topic before it is learned in class to help build confidence), Iterative work (looking at different skills already covered in class), Achieve High (Look at exam questions and take what has been learned in class to a higher level), Support (Look at areas the student struggled at in class to help boost performance) and Exam Preparation (Aimed at year 10’s and 11’s who are preparing for mocks & exams to close gaps in learning and go over exam style questions). Follow up work is optional here and depends on the student's workload.
There are so many maths resources out there but sometimes it is so hard to understand where to start, what to use and how to structure it. I am now offering a maths pack accompanied with a 30 minute session. The maths pack will include 5 lessons per week. There will be links to videos to watch where students can work through at their own pace and make notes. Also included are some questions and answers based on the topic so they can test themselves as they go. At the end there is a skills check which acts as their ‘home work’ for the week. This will come with a progress sheet so they can track the skills they are focusing on. Once the booklet is complete you will send it back to me. I will then be able to see how the student got on. We will then have a 30 minute session where I can talk through the areas they struggled with and offer feedback. This is a great option for students who learn well independently. The addition of videos means the student can work at their own pace and re-watch sections they may have misunderstood.
